InventionHome Featured Invention: Blisslights Spright

Next holiday up is Thanksgiving.  And then, beginning on ‘Black Friday”, millions of Americans will dig through their attics and garages to free the dusty boxes containing holiday décor.  I love rediscovering the wreaths, ornaments and various other green and red treasures.  I adore the spirit of the holidays and all the sparkle and glitter.  But when it comes to hanging lights…untangling dozens of strands, changing bulbs, tripping circuits and spending hours in sub-zero temperatures to trim my porch and yard… I’ll admit I’m not a big fan.

That’s why I’m thrilled to present our Featured Invention…Blisslights Spright.

BlissLights Spright was developed by California inventor Alan L.  It is a low voltage laser light projector housed in a black outdoor-rated exterior.  It projects thousands of brilliant pinpoints of light that transform a yard or outdoor scene into an oasis of light.  The best part…just position the device (comes with yard stake) and then plug it in.  That’s it!

In addition to creating beautiful holiday displays, Blisslights Spright can be used for everyday lighting of trees, pools, gazebos, etc.

InventionHome Featured Invention – Bowl Breeze

This featured invention post addresses…um…a rather sensitive topic.  It can be offensive…and embarrassing.  Let’s see, how can I put this delicately.  It’s about stinky bathrooms.

Without going into details, let me just state the obvious.  Sometimes, bathrooms stink!  Luck for all of us, inventor Christopher B. of Bethel Park, PA has a product that effectively addresses this crisis situation.  It is called “Bowl Breeze®”.

Bowl Breeze® is an air-purifying device for the bathroom that eliminates, rather than masks, dangerous odors that carry harmful germs and bacteria.  The device has adjustable arms that clamp it onto the edge of any toilet, and a motion sensor embedded on the top.  When the motion sensor detects activity (such as a seated person), the purifier’s powerful fan pulls in airborne bacteria, viruses, gases, and embarrassing odors at the source. Filters inside the device collect the harmful toxins at the molecular level and literally suffocate them, resulting in a healthy and safe bathroom environment with breathable, fresh air. After people leave the bathroom, the purifier will shut itself off after a one minute delay to refresh after the flush cycle.

InventionHome Featured Invention – Stomp Weeder

From early Spring through Fall, my backyard becomes my escape from the rat-race, the arguing kids, and cooped-up indoor evenings.  I relish in the early blooms of my dogwood tree, the amazing details of the columbine flower, and the deep reds and pinks of the rosebushes.  Throughout the seasons, my backyard also falls victim to the pesky dandelion.  If you’ve done much gardening of your own, you know that dandelions can be quite the challenge to remove, and if you don’t remove them all the way down to the roots, they’ll grow back with a vengeance.

Inventor Christopher K. of Manitoba, Canada shares my disdain for the dandelion, and he created a nifty garden tool to remove them quickly and easily.  He calls the invention “Stomp Weeder”.  The tool consists of a long, lightweight shaft with gripping handle at top and footrest with blade on its underside at bottom.  To use, the device is positioned over a weed and just as the name suggests, the user simply stomps down on a footrest.

InventionHome Featured Invention – CRYSTAL SPONGE

Have you ever spilled a cup of coffee on your way out the door, with no time to stop and clean it up because you’re already late for work?  Or, has a new puppy ever had an accident on your carpet while housetraining?

Inventor Bernie P. of Girard, Ohio always surrounded himself with clumsy people, and he experienced events like this all too often.  He knew enough about chemistry to develop “Crystal Sponge”, a pour-on granular substance that will absorb virtually any wet spill from carpet and fabric.

To use Crystal Sponge…as soon after a spill occurs, just pour the product on the soiled surface area.  Wait 15-minutes (minimum) or even all-day if you’re late for work.  Finally, vacuum away the stain.  That’s it!  Don’t believe it?  Watch this video that we created here in the InventionHome office:

InventionHome Featured Invention – Tipsy Tower

Memorial Day has come and gone.  The holiday signifies many things…a time to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country, as well as a time to visit the gravesites of our loved ones to pay respects.  In a much less ‘official’ manner, this day also marks a changeover in the season making it permissible to wear white shoes and also, since the weather is becoming more consistently warm it’s the perfect time to plant annual flowers.

Inventors Gordon and Carri B. of Jensen Beach, Florida developed a charming product to help create whimsical vertical displays of flowers very easily.  They call it “Tipsy Tower”.

Tipsy Tower provides a streamlined and interesting way to stack multiple potted plants into a vertical area. The product consists of a rod with two foot pieces and an optional hanging ring that can attach to the top. The powder-coated rod screws into the foot pieces and the ring can be screwed onto the top if desired. To use, slide the rod through the drainage holes on the pots.  Each pot can be tilted so that they stack on top of one another at differing angles.

InventionHome Featured Invention – The Dignity Towel

People ages 65 and over represented 12.4% of the US population in the year 2000 but are expected to grow to be 19% of the population by 2030.  With the growth of the elderly population comes a growth in the need for caregivers…whether skilled nurses or loving family members.   And subsequently, there comes a need for products to assist in providing such care.

One such product is our featured invention of the month, a product titled “The Dignity Towel”, which comes from InventionHome client Sharon F. of Los Angeles, California

The Dignity Towel is a unique product with all the benefits of a standard towel, and some additional features to assist both caregivers and those needing care.   The towel features elastic and snaps which will ensure a secure fit when the caregiver wraps the towel around the person; this provides coverage and dignity in front of a person providing assistance when getting out of a bathtub.  The towel also has two reinforced handles, which allow for equal distribution of the person’s weight and enabling easy lifting/assistance without strain on the caregiver.

InventionHome Featured Invention – “Indoor Plant Duster & Solution Applicator”

Many people list among their “New Year’s Resolutions” a pledge to keep a tidier house...to address those crevices and cobwebs that might get overlooked by the kids doing their Saturday chores…to impress their visitors with sparkling, clean surfaces.  Well here’s an invention that makes it a cinch to wash away surface dust and grime on indoor plants, and leave a lustrous shine that’s sure to impress your neighbors.

The invention is titled “Indoor Plant Duster & Solution Applicator”, and it comes from InventionHome clients Melissa and Russell D. of Encino, California.

Designed to aid both in cleaning the leaves of plants and providing a method for the even application of various solutions, the invention consists of a pair of thin tongs with spongy padding on the underside of each arm.   When the tongs are closed, the top and bottom meet flush together. Disposable, quilted sleeves with a premeasured amount of various solutions, such as plant food, plant-safe cleaner, or shine enhancer, can slide over each arm, covering the spongy assemblies. The sleeves can be discarded after use, making them a convenient tool to help you tackle that 2013 resolution.
