Weekly Invention by InventionHome.com - Brush Buddies®

InventionHome and MatchProduct.com announce their Invention of the Week – “Brush Buddies®”.

Independent inventor Anish Patel enlisted the help of MatchProduct.com (sister company of InventionHome) to assist him in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for his invention.

Brush Buddies® talking toothbrush is an innovation in kids oral care. The unique product features an attractive dog character design and an amusing voice characteristic that kids will get a kick out of! But the product is far more than just cute. Rather than focus only on entertainment, the audio played back through our brush actually educates kids and encourages them on healthy brushing habits. When activated, the voice recording plays for exactly two minutes, giving kids the recommended brush time without repeatedly looking at a timer or estimating when 2 minutes are up. The audio playback also guides kids to brush each section of their teeth, starting with their upper teeth, then switching to their lower teeth after the first minute, and finally ends the sequence by letting them know they have done a "Great job!"

InventionHome announces their Invention of the Week – “Illuminated Knob”.

Independent inventor Pat Vastano enlisted the help of InventionHome to assist him in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for his invention.

Illuminated Knob is a safety device for indicating the operative condition of an appliance. This lighted knob can be easily installed on any appliance that has a knob for turning on the appliance. Any rotation of the knob away from the “off” position will cause the device to illuminate. This assists in visually identifying that the appliance is active, preventing accidental electrical fires and explosions that are a result of forgetting to turn off an appliance, such as a stove. This device can be used to replace any style appliance knob and can also be manufactured on new models.

Weekly Invention by InventionHome.com – Keep Safe

InventionHome announces their Invention of the Week – “Keep Safe”.

Independent inventor Jess Ponce enlisted the help of InventionHome to assist him in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for his invention.

Keep Safe is a system that will enable a driver to move a vehicle safely, sure that there are no pets in the vicinity. The first component of the device is a base unit that connects to a vehicle’s power outlet or cigarette lighter. Mounting brackets make it accessible and easily viewable for the driver. The base unit acts as a receiver, which receives signal from the second component, a pet tag, acting as the transmitter. The tag may be produced in various shapes and colors. A small battery powers the tag. A screen on the base unit will show a top view/outline of a vehicle, and if a pet wearing a transmitter tag is nearby, a series of red circles will appear to alert the driver of the pet’s location. The unit may have a power button, speaker, reset button and charging port.

Weekly Invention by InventionHome.com – Pet Door Fire Exit

InventionHome announces their Invention of the Week – “Pet Door Fire Exit”.

Independent inventor Tom Kodat enlisted the help of InventionHome to assist him in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for his invention.

Pet Door Fire Exit allows a pet the ability to move outside the home without assistance from the owner, in the event of an emergency. The exit also allows the homeowner to release the animal before getting out of a car so that the pet can protect the owner as he moves to the house from the car. Pet Door Fire Exit consists of an electronic pet door with an internal RF transceiver, speaker, and digital recorder/player. The other main parts are a smoke detector with an internal RF transceiver, a handheld RF remote control, and pet collars with internal RF transmitters. The smoke detector, similar in appearance to a regular smoke detector, has an internal radio frequency (RF) transceiver operating at 900MHz or 2.4GHz. The frame of the electronic pet door would contain a digital voice recorder/player, a speaker, and an RF transceiver like the one in the smoke detector. Normally, a 12-volt converter at the nearest receptacle to the door will provide power. Both the smoke detector and the pet door could also contain rechargeable batteries so the devices could still function if the power is off. A handheld or keychain remote control can communicate with the transceiver in the pet doorframe, permitting the user to unlock the pet door, as desired. Pet collars with RF transmitters and devices that could open a screen or storm door such as a rod screw actuator and a replacement storm door handle with a 12-volt DC solenoid inside are also products used in this invention. The pet door could have a manual lock or latch so that it could function as a standard type of pet door. The PDFE smoke detector could replace an existing smoke detector in a home or could be installed in a different location. If the smoke detector senses smoke, it will signal the pet door by RF communication, causing the pet door to unlock and play the voice recording calling the pet(s) to the door. If unlocked by the smoke detector, all pet(s) will be able to exit but not re-enter. Pressing the "test" button on the smoke detector should unlock the pet door and activate playback of the voice recording calling the pet(s). Because the smoke detector and the electronic pet door are communicating by RF transmission, the pet door could direct the smoke detector to silence the alarm tone for some period of time (20 seconds for example) to ensure that the pet(s) can hear the voice playback. Without the voice-recording playback, the pet(s) would not know that the pet door is unlocked and that they are wanted outside. The PDFE handheld or keychain remote control will also cause the pet door to unlock and play the voice recording. In addition to being operated by the smoke detector or the remote control, the pet door RF transceiver could recognize pet collars with compatible RF transmitters. This could also be done with passive RFID tags in the collars and an RFID reader in the electronic pet door. The pet collars would allow the pet door to differentiate between pets so access through the door could be limited to just those with the compatible collar. One or more LEDs on the electronic pet door frame could indicate to the owner if the pet is inside or out if there is only one pet and if a battery in a pet collar needs to be replaced. The PDFE smoke detector is also made to sense and trigger in the event of high levels of carbon monoxide.

Weekly Invention by InventionHome.com – LEXIE LIGHTS

InventionHome announces their Invention of the Week – LEXIE LIGHTS.

Independent inventor John Sowakinas enlisted the help of InventionHome to assist him in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for his invention.

LEXIE LIGHTS is a convenient pet collar attachment that will illuminate to provide lighting in front, behind or to the side of the pet, providing a suitable and well-lighted area for better viewing capabilities. The attachment piece is designed to fit any size pet collar with snap-on retention devices. The center of the curved design rests approximately 1-inch above the collar to ensure proper function of the 360-degree swivel base on which the LED lighting system sits. The battery-operated, double LED light notes an on-off switch for ease in powering the unit. A pet owner should simply switch the power button to the ‘on’ position to then adjust the direction of the light. The swivel base will enable a user to point the light in any direction. LEXIE LIGHTS can be made available in a set of two for placement on two areas of the collar. With more than one LEXIE LIGHT attached to a collar, lighting may be directed in one or two areas simultaneously. The entire unit measures approximately 2-inches long but may be modified according to collar and pet size. The battery housing is easy to access and provides a user the ability to remove and change batteries when needed. The invention is not limited to dogs and may fit a range of collars worn by any animal.

Weekly Invention by InventionHome.com - "Pet Gard"

Invention of the Week: Pet Gard

Invention Home announces their "Invention of the Week".

Independent inventor David Rice enlisted the help of Invention Home to assist him in finding marketing/licensing opportunities for his invention, “Pet Gard”.

David wanted a safe way to take his pets with him on his daily errands…

Are you a pet lover who wants your pet’s company at all times? Do you like to take your pet with you in the car, but worry about the heat rising as the animal sits awaiting your return? Inventor David Rice has designed the perfect product for you! Pet Gard is a heat and sound activated alarm system designed to warn pet owners that the interior of their vehicle has reached a dangerous temperature. The portable unit consists of two separate components: a monitor and a pager. The monitor is plugged into the vehicle’s cigarette lighter, which activates it. When the interior of the vehicle reaches a predetermined temperature (factory set), and three similar sounds are detected within 20 seconds, a signal is sent to the pager. The pager will beep until the user presses a “dismiss” button. The beeping will sound again, every 60 seconds, until the user goes back to the vehicle, checks on the pet and either resets the monitor or unplugs it. David has an issued Utility Patent as well as a finished sample.
